The year of the Wolf?

When the Wolves made it to the 2004 Playoffs, they went in with plenty of confidence, experience, and swagger. They had the "3 Headed Monster" - KG, Sprewell & Sam Cassell and some great role players. However with constant injuries nagging their floor leader Cassell, the wolves fell to the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
Since then, the Wolves have missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, and go into this coming season knowing that Kevin Garnett is both getting old and frustrated at chasing that elusive title ring. But after trading away many players and revamping their roster, all of a sudden there's a buzz of excitement amongst Timerbwolves fans about the prospects of their young talent, namely Ricky Davis, Rashad McCants, and this year's draft pick Randy Foye.
Davis was acquired in the middle of last season in a multiplayer trade with Boston. Most see Davis as an athletic swingman that can finish easily above the rim. McCants will be entering his 2nd year and showed some great signs of maturity as coach Dwane Casey gave him more playing time. McCants is currently rehabbing from off season surgery and isn't expected back for a while. Randy Foye has so far shown an excellent array of skills, earning MVP honours at the Summer League held in Vegas.
Adding to this young pool of talent, the Timberwolves acquired the services of veteran Mike James who signed as a free agent. James torched his opponents on a regular basis whilst playing for the lowly Raptors last season. Whether he was a case of the best on a bad team or not is yet to be seen but by all accounts he is a firey competitor who trains hard to keep himself in top physical condition, and definitely has a point to prove after being treated poorly throughout his entire career due to the fact that he was never drafted. Many believe that the "3 Headed Monster" has made a return, with KG, Ricky Davis taking Sprewells spot, and Mike James the new Sam Cassell. If this is true then the supporting cast this time around is many times better than the ones that helped the team to the WCF in 2004.
As a totally unbiased fan (yeah right), I predict the Wolves will be back in the WCF and maybe better this coming season, and Randy Foye will win Rookie of the Year!
Bonzi Wells still looking for a team

Bonzi Wells recently met with the Houston Rockets organisation to discuss his playing future and a possible move to the Rockets to assist Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady reach the playoffs. The 6-5 guard/forward had a very productive year with the Sacramento Kings last season but is apparently not welcome back.
There are many that question Wells' attitude and sources cite this as the reason why the Kings didn't want him back, but for a struggling team like the Rockets (who shouldn't be struggling with the players they had), taking a risk on Wells might pay off. However several other teams are also interested in signing Wells, including the Charlotte Bobcats. They have $9 million in cap space so they could easily offer Wells something around the $5 million mark.
In other news, Indiana Pacers' coach Rick Carlisle appears to be in for a contract extension. The Pacers have somewhat struggled since the Reggie Miller era, but have a good group of young talent and got back ex-Pacer Al Harrington in a recent deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
As the new season approaches, teams are looking to finalise their rosters before training camp begins within a month for most teams.
